The Practice

What is Nia?

A barefoot movement practice that blends dance, martial arts, mindfulness and healing movement — set to music that makes you want to move.

Nia is a sensory-based movement practice danced barefoot to eclectic, uplifting music. It weaves together dance, martial arts, and mindfulness into a single flowing experience — inviting you to move the way your body wants to move, not the way a routine tells you to.

Each class is a conversation between movement and music, guiding you toward greater body awareness, healing movement patterns, and a deep, joyful connection to yourself and the people moving beside you.

Meet Chris

Chris is a passionate Nia instructor dedicated to helping people reconnect with movement in a supportive, judgement-free environment. What started as a personal love of dance and mindful movement has grown into a heartfelt mission: to share the joy of Nia with the Whitsunday community.

Chris believes movement should feel like play, not pressure. Every class is designed to meet you exactly where you are, whether you're taking your very first barefoot step or you've been dancing your whole life.

With warmth, encouragement and genuine care, Chris creates a space where everyBODY feels welcome to move, breathe and simply be themselves. Chris is a proud teacher member with Nia Australia, the official body supporting and training Nia teachers across the country — meaning every class is grounded in genuine, recognised Nia training.
